Golden eagles have two or three eyries which they use in rotation. Each will be high up on a secluded ledge and be made of a bundle of sticks strong enough to support a heavy adult bird and one downy eaglet. The chick comes from an egg laid in April but it will be early August before it can fly. The adults take turns to feed prey to their single offspring but the male does most of the hunting. If an eagle has two chicks then the older one will usually kill its younger sibling.
