The Springwatch team has been filming a pair of nesting peregrines in London and caught a hunt on film. A pigeon in level flight can travel at 50 mph and this one takes a pigeon mid-flight. They are well equipped to deliver the coup de grace and have a notch in their beaks with which they do this so the return flight is easier to accomplish. Before they return, they make sure the food is ready for deliver and the favourite plucking post of this particular pair is on a dish on the BT tower, one of London's most recognisable landmarks.
