Sandija O'Connell is off on a springtime safari at Calke Abbey. She's looking for serotines, which are one of Britain's largest bats. It's really special to see serotines here since they are usually though of as bats of the south and south-east of England. For the last five years they have been coming to Derbyshire in May and June. Noctule bats come out first, then later the serotines arrive. You have to use a bat detector to hear the bats' high-pitched calls. Sanjida looks at a chafer beetle - the type of insect the bats eat. As an end to the evening she joins a moth trapping group.
