The rivers on the fens have lovely clean water that's full of life. There are many water plants including white waterlilies and dragonflies and damselflies live just above the water. Messing about on the river is very relaxing. There is really impressive life under the water: roach, minnows and pike. Even the water snails are important - they graze and keep the water free of algae and blanket weed. A few water snails in your garden pond will do the job for you.
