Bernard Watts takes Mike Dilger to see swallowtail butterflies. Lots have been flying by but none are perching. However the temperature is dropping, so they should become less active soon. They finally find one feeding on a thistle. This is Britain's biggest butterfly and arguably the most spectacular. The butterfly is so heavy it has to quiver its wings to keep its balance on the thistle.
