The M25 overspend
The widening of the M25 has cost £660m more than it should have done.
The widening of the M25 has cost £660m more than it should have done. Work on the first section between Gerrards Cross and South Mimms is now well under way.
But the National Audit Office says a delay deciding the contractor pushed up costs dramatically, and using hard shoulder running instead would have saved £1bn.
