Cheza and Sala
The fascinating story of two very different lion cubs growing up in Kenya's Masai Mara - Cheza and Sala. Cheza is an older cousin and a real mentor for the youngster, Sala.
Two-month-old Sala is a single cub, the only survivor from his litter. With no cousins of the same age, he is full of mischief and determined to be the centre of attention. This single cub is unlikely to make it through his first few months despite the presence of his mother. But Sala's chances of survival are helped by a strong and unusual alliance with an older cub, Cheza. Five-month-old Cheza is an older cousin and a real mentor for the youngster. The odd couple are inseparable. The story continues six months later, with Cheza growing up fast, even sporting signs of a mane. Sala is still dwarfed by his cousin, but their alliance seems as strong as ever. Life in the pride has dramatically changed with the arrival of nine new cubs. The pride is thriving with the odd couple at its centre, but, as always, life for young lion cubs is fraught with danger.
