Salam al Atrash speaks to Jeremy about Lawrence of Arabia
The ancient city of Jerusalem – the heart of the Biblical Promised Land - was an incredible prize for the Imperial troops who entered it in 1917. But imperial hubris would lead Britain to make rash promises to provide a Jewish homeland in Palestine AND restore land to the Arabs of the regions – what TE Lawrence described as the British love of “policing other men’s muddles.” The world still lives with the consequences.
