The Centre for Economics and Business research have told the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ that each bank holiday costs the UK economy £2.3bn.
They say that scrapping them altogether would boost annual output in this country by £19bn.
A less extreme measure would be to spread them out over the year to stop struggling UK businesses losing momentum.
The founder of the CEBR has said that if you add up the offices, factories and building sites across the country around 45 percent of the UK economy suffers over bank holidays.
