Photosynthesis in tropical rainforests
Life on Earth relies on the process of photosynthesis in tropical rainforests. Photosynthesis absorbs carbon dioxide and produces the oxygen we need for respiration or breathing.
The rainforest is the most efficient absorber of carbon dioxide, but rainfall, soil and sunlight conditions must be right for this to happen. Changes to the delicate balance of the rainforest could lead to a knock-on effect around the world.
