SEN Music - Rain song
In a studio-theatre setting, a group of young people with severe learning difficulties sing and play percussion instruments. They perform a song in two parts about the rain. They are accompanied by a percussionist, a guitarist and three backing singers, and supported by three adults. As they sing, the backing singers sign the words of the song in Makaton. The second part of the song involves incorporating the names of the young performers into the song. At the end of the song an animated Widgit symbol for ‘your turn’ appears on-screen. The song is repeated by the backing singers. During appropriate moments in the song’s ‘names’ section spaces are left for viewers in the classroom to call out their own names.
