Women on the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Front, 1914-1918
During the First World War, more and more women took over from men in British industries. Many women worked in the munitions factories, to meet the demand for weapons on the front line. They also worked on maintaining coal, gas and power supplies. For women, the First World War marked a major social revolution.
