Lochaber – Highland and valley land use
Land use in a high level glaciated landscape such as Lochaber in Scotland is largely limited to climbers and hill walkers. A high volume of hill walkers visiting Ben Nevis has led to erosion of the landscape. Lower down in the valley, the range of suitable land use is greater. This can include forestry and farming. The rough terrain makes the landscape largely unsuitable for anything other than sheep farming.
