Global weather circulation
An explanation of how heat from the Sun in conjunction with the Earth's rotation create our weather. The atmosphere is heated by the Sun and spun by the rotation of the Earth. The heat from the Sun is most concentrated where it falls most directly on the equator and tropics. This creates hot air which rises and forms a series of circulation patterns. The weather in Britain is variable as it lies in a band where hot and cold air come together.
