An explanation of gravitational potential energy and kinetic energy through the example of a swing boat theme park ride. At the top of its swing, all the energy is in the form of gravitational potential energy. At the bottom of the swing, all the energy is in the form of kinetic energy. The amount of energy remains constant throughout. Conservation of energy, friction and heat energy are also covered, since the park ride loses energy and eventually stops.
