Efficiency of power stations
At each stage of energy generation and transmission, energy is lost. For the transmission to be as efficient as possible, the electricity is transmitted at as high a voltage and as low a current as possible. AC electricity can be stepped up and down to allow this, whereas it is not possible with DC.
