                Andrew Carnegie
The most famous example of a Scot who was successful in the USA was Andrew Carnegie. He arrived with his father in 1848 and built a multi-million dollar business empire in the steel industry. Although he was accused of buying out competitors and depressing wages, many later benefited from his philanthropy.
