Stages of mitosis or cell division
Time lapse pictures of a cell undergoing mitosis. During mitosis, the chromosomes shorten and thicken to move around. Each chromosome is made up of two chromatids that line up along the equator of the cell before pulling apart. The cytoplasm then divides to form two identical cells.
