'Celtic Air' (pt 1/3) - Composing
Composer Dave Heath reflects on the guitar playing of Jimi Hendrix who could 'make ugly sounds beautiful'. He tries to capture the essence of this sound with a cellist by exploring the use of extended techniques to emphasise overtones. In another piece he combines the sounds of a windpipe with a violin playing harmonics. This is for a piece called ‘Celtic Air’ which he dedicates to a friend who recently died of leukaemia.
