Composing music for a film
Composer Debbie Wiseman reflects on the process of composition for film music. We see a clip of a dramatic murder scene with accompanying soundtrack. The composer explains how she is initially playing with ideas at the piano until something sticks. She provides a commentary on how the music she writes changes to support the film action. Initially there is a busy, aggressive start. A contrasting section follows - something slower and sinister to support the slower camera movement. Appropriate harmonies are chosen to support this change in mood.
