As Part of Black History Month, Vere visits a thanksgiving service called 鈥淐hurches For Change鈥� in Gloucester. Plus, Vere will be finding out about 鈥淭he Race for Africa鈥� which was a period of rapid colonization of the African continent by European powers, beginning in the 1880s. As Vere learns from local historian Rupert Mackenzie, it wouldn't have happened except for the particular economic, social, and military evolution Europe was going through.
