The first Asian President of the TUC speaks to ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Manchester.

A bus driver has become the first Asian president of the Trade Union Congress. Mohammad Taj is from Bradford and the TUC's first Muslim President. He has worked in public transport since 1974, when he started working for Bradford City Transport as a bus conductor. He first got involved with the Transport and General Workers Union - now part of Unite - when he began to investigate complaints that Asian workers had to pay a bribe to corrupt union officials and managers before they could got work on the buses. Mr Taj was elected in September and since in his role he has been visiting various towns and cities across the UK. In this interview ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Manchester's Talat Farooq Awan, caught up with Mr Taj on his Manchester visit and started by asking him how he rose through the TUC ranks.
