PM listeners' sounds: Melting ice
Kevin Geraghty-Shewan stayed in Sunniside in County Durham just after Christmas. When they arrived the whole village was covered in snow and it was just beginning to melt. One of the selling points of the house was the coal fire and they were keen to get it going as soon as possible. Kevin went out into the backyard and as he did, he heard the sound of melting ice. He had a recorder with him and kept it on the windowsill while they got the fire going.
