Maternal deaths ‘drop by almost half’
The number of women dying due to complications in pregnancy and childbirth has fallen by almost half since 1990, according to the World Health Organisation. An estimated 289,000 women died in 2013, down from 523,000 in 1990. The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s Imogen Foulkes says the statistics also reveal more on the causes of death.
