Taste or smell? How our nose affects what we taste
Prof Barry Smith is co-director of the Centre for the Study of the Senses at the University of London, and an expert in taste and flavour.
With the use of nose clips and jelly beans, he conducts a taste experiment with Richard Bacon and Dr James Logan to help explain how what we smell through our nose has such an impact on what we taste with our tongue.
It's one of the many experiments & discoveries at the Cheltenham International Science Festival, which attracts thousands of visitors to hear the world's leading scientists in action over the course of six days.
