The village of Berwyn, Nebraska was established in 1886 and today has a population of 82 people. The railroad that runs through it is an important freight route for coal.

There are also places called Berwyn in Pennsylvania and Illinois.

The Berwyn mountain range, or Mynydd y Berwyn, is located in Wales near the towns of Llangollen, Corwen and Bala and extends across three counties – Clwyd, Gwynedd and Powys.

These mountains prevented the English king, Henry II, from invading Gwynedd in 1165, where he encountered the Welsh king, Owain Gwynedd, who was Prince Madog's father.

In Welsh, Berwyn means white summit from a combination of the words bar (summit) and gwyn (white).
