Billionaire Slim calls for three-day working week
One of the world’s richest men, Mexican media tycoon Carlos Slim, says productivity and quality of life would increase if we were all to work a three-day week. There are a couple of provisos - longer hours, and people should stay employed into their 70s - but could it work? Discussing this are Dean Baker, an American macroeconomist and co-founder of the Center for Economic and Policy Research in Washington, and Sylvain Courage, editor of the Nouvel Observateur magazine in France, which has introduced a 35-hour working week. Sylvain explains how the shorter week is going there.
