Radio 2 Commissioning Round Seminar 2015/16

Hear what Radio 2 Commissioners are looking for now.

To mark the opening of the Radio 2 commissioning round a commissioning seminar was held on the morning of the 29 July 2014 in ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Broadcasting House, London.

The session opened with an introduction from Robert Gallacher (Commissioning Editor for Radio 2 and 6 Music).

Bob Shennan (Controller of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 2, 6 Music, Asian Network and Director of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Music) discussed the wider strategy for Radio 2 and highlighted some audience research about the network.

Sharon Hanley (Head of Communications for ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 2, 6 Music, Asian Network and ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Music) spoke about how working with the press and publicity team is essential to help promote content.

Brett Spencer (Digital Editor for ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 2, 6 Music and Asian Network) gave a past, present and future example of content that has worked well both on-air but also in the ever growing digital world.

Robert Gallacher then discussed the wider network strategy of Fewer, Bigger, Better from which includes the recent D-Day content.

Each of the commissioning briefs were explained by Lewis Carnie (Head of Programmes, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 2) including: Ad Hoc Documentaries and Presenter Led Genre Series’.

To close the seminar, Paul Smith (Head of Editorial Standards for ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio) chaired a question and answer session with the speakers.
