Thousands of Iraqi people trapped on a mountain by Islamic State fighters could be rescued if international forces work together to save them, a charity worker has claimed.

Zirak Hamad, a spokesperson from the Rwanga Foundation, said a co-ordinated international plan was "desperately needed" to airlift the people to safety.

Mr Hamad's charity has been taking aid to the Sinjar mountains in Kurdish military helicopters, but they can only rescue 20-25 people at a time.

鈥淚nternational countries should take action and do something,鈥� he said.
