James Alexander Gordon, or JAG to his colleagues, was the voice of the classified football results for over 35 years. One of the most distinctive voices in broadcasting, Gordon was the voice of Saturday afternoons.

Jimmy Armfield, Mark Lawrenson and our chief football correspondent John Murray pay tribute to JAG who died aged 78.

Armfield: "People always remind me as you get older you do lose your friends. I think 5live and football have lost a friend today. He was the consummate professional."

Lawrenson: "He was the definitive voice of the football results."

Murray: "Countless times (his producer) Audrey would be writing in the results as James was reading them out. But you'd never know that was the case because he was just so measured."
