Joan Rivers, Judaism and Israel
"Joan Rivers brought laughter to millions around the world and was proud of her Jewish heritage and a vocal supporter of the State of Israel." That's what Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu had to say yesterday following news of Rivers' death in a New York hospital. Her Jewish identity was central to both her life and her persona. But David Brinn, managing editor of the Jerusalem Post, says her fame was limited in Israel.
