Sturgeon: UN mandate needed before Iraq military action
A new mandate from the United Nations Security Council must be secured before any military action in Iraq, Deputy Leader of the Scottish National Party Nicola Sturgeon has said.
In response to a question from The Times Deputy Political Editor Sam Coates, Ms Sturgeon said: "I do think a mandate from the Security Council is important."
"I also don't think we should assume that China and Russia cannot be made to see, or do not see, that their wider strategic interests also involve dealing with the threat that ISIL poses", she added.
