Time for more female-friendly video games?
Almost half of all gamers are female, yet it seems video gaming culture is yet to catch on to that fact. The ‘damsel-in-distress’ remains a mainstay of games, while women involved in the industry have often faced vitriolic abuse. Helen Lewis, deputy editor of New Statesman, says it is time to move on from the idea that the average gamer is a teenage boy.
