'Phone jammer' invented for drivers
It's already illegal in the UK to use your mobile phone when you're behind the wheel unless it's hands-free, but an American entrepreneur has come up with a device that blocks all communication to your phone while you are driving to ensure you're not tempted.
Scott Tibbits invented the device called 'Groove' after a colleague was run over and killed by a teenager texting while driving. It took two years to develop and cost three million dollars.
Tibbits told 5 live's Rachel Burden "It's a little device about half the size of a pack of cards and if you look underneath the steering wheel there's a little plug you didn't know was there, you plug it in and then you're done. From that point forward it notifies the telecoms company that Scott is driving right now."
