British football could benefit from NFL's 'Rooney Rule'
In an exclusive interview the man who the "Rooney Rule" is named after has told 5 live Breakfast that British football has "nothing to lose" by bringing it in.
The rule was brought in by the NFL in 2003 and requires teams to interview at least one black or ethnic minority candidate for head coaching jobs that become available. Pittsburgh Steelers' chairman Dan Rooney says that he "couldn't recommend it enough for teams in Britain" and that it would be a positive change which would open doors to other candidates.
