Several shots have been fired outside and inside the Canadian parliament in Ottawa.

A soldier was killed in the attack and one gunman shot dead according to Canadian media.

Senator Jim Munson spoke to 5 live from a building on lockdown and said his colleagues were shocked by what happened.

He said he'd heard from fellow MPs who could "smell gunpowder" from inside a meeting room.
