Phil Steele met Wayne Hall, Bridgend hooker of 80’s vintage who won his solitary cap for Wales in their win over Western Samoa in 1988. A Pencoed RFC youth product, a club that produced among others, Scott Gibbs, Gareth Thomas, Gavin Henson, and Gareth Cooper – but Wayne their first ever international.
