A man whose now ex-wife, Helen Turnbull, kissed and sent texts to a male student at a school where she was a teaching assistant, said his family have been left devastated.

Helen Turnbull, 35, was cleared of having sex with a 16-year-old pupil but received a suspended jail sentence for kissing him.

"My little boy has taken the news really badly. He doesn't see his mum. He holds her responsible because she put herself before him," said Ben Turnbell to 5 live's Rachel Burden.

"She's only got contact with my little girl but neither of our families talk at all now," he added.
