Saving Timbuktu's Libraries
Timbuktu's ancient manuscripts are referred to as the second lung of the city. But since the Islamist militant occupation in 2012, only a few remain. Some were burnt when insurgents took their revenge as they were pushed out of the city last year, others were protected by families who carefully hid them away knowing the risks they faced. But most were rescued by a network of residents who carried out a secret operation to transport them to safety in Bamako. ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Afrique's Laeila Adjovi reports from Mali
