A Christmas Carol: Opera adaptation from 1962
The first operatic version of Charles Dickens' classic Christmas tale starred Stephen Manton as Scrooge - who in this clip is visited by the Ghost of Christmas Past, played by Edmund Donlevy.
Produced and designed by Hal Burton for the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½, with music by American composer Edwin Coleman and a libretto by Margaret Burns Harris, it was first screened on Christmas Eve 1962 and later shown in the USA.
