Shay Given: No applause when Keane left
Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given told 5 live Sport there was “no clapping or applauding” when Roy Keane left the club.
Talking to Mark Chapman, Jonathan Northcroft and Kevin Kilbane, Given said: “Roy has a great presence about him and he’s moved on and in a sense, the club has moved on too. You have, you can’t stand still.”
He added that the team didn’t see Keane when he left: “None of the players really saw him. There was no clapping or applauding. Obviously you read stuff in the papers; sometimes they just write what they want.”
Keane left Aston Villa after claiming he wanted to focus on his job as Assistant Manager for the Republic of Ireland.
