Widower Bob, 93: 'I see loneliness as a mass of grey'
In October 5 live Breakfast was discussing loneliness when 93-year-old Bob Lowe contacted the programme. Bob's wife died three years ago and he read out a poem he had written to her.
A poll for 5 live suggests that more than four million people in the UK will be spending Christmas by themselves. Two months on from first appearing on 5 live, Bob told us about the loneliness he had experienced since he lost his wife.
Bob said: "I see loneliness as a mass of grey. When you go out of the house the grey gets little bit smaller and the more people you're talking to, you forget the grey. But the moment you come back into the house, that grey is there and it surrounds you".
