Gebrselassie: Sub-two-hour marathon possible in 'five years'
Haile Gebrselassie says running a marathon in less than two hours will be possible within "five years".
Gebrselassie, four-time Berlin marathon winner and two-time Olympic 10,000 metres champion, said advancements in shoe technology should allow elite athletes to go under the two-hour barrier for the first time.
The current marathon world record is held by Kenya's Dennis Kimetto at 2 hours, 2 minutes and 57 seconds. It was set at the 2014 Berlin marathon.
Gebrselassie holds this fifth-fastest time, at 2:03:59, set at the 2008 Berlin marathon.
