Paw protection: Why koalas need your mittens
Koalas desperately need mittens, according to vets and animal welfare groups in Australia, after a spate of wildfires.
Australians are being urged to donate or even make mittens to help animals whose paws have been damaged.
It is hoped that giving them paw protection will help them return to their natural environment.
Josey Sharrad, a wildlife campaigner at the International Fund for Animal Welfare, told 5 live's Anna Holligan the fires were still burning, but animals were often the "forgotten victims."
