'Extraordinary' increase in plants
Dr Tim Rich, from the Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland told Today's James Naughtie 'something really unusual is going on with the weather patterns that is affecting the plants'.
He said that with the extremely mild winters we have been experiencing, this is 'a pattern we are beginning to see repeated regularly'.
