The Monthly Mardle

Keith Skipper’s popular "monthly mardle" with Matthew Gudgin on ѿý Radio Norfolk’s Teatime Show is moving from Tuesday to a new Wednesday slot from 6 to 7pm.
Skip will share his views and yarns on a different local topic each month but still find room for favourite songs and tunes. He kicks off the new series on Wednesday February 4th, with a spotlight on getting to school... especially when bad weather makes it hazardous going.
Who can recall adventures from the “proper” winters of 1947 and 1963? Are schools too hasty these days in closing classrooms as soon as there’s snow about? How far did you have to walk in them good old days? Could you write with frozen fingers? Did you take any exciting diversions?
You can help set the scene past and present with your special memories and points of view. Get in touch as soon as the grey matters stirs via the ѿý Radio Norfolk Facebook page or Skip’s own Facebook site – give your full name and location and join in with relish. There’s also the option of using the programme’s email address – teatime@bbc.co.uk.
Phone lines will be open during the time of the broadcast for messages to be sprinkled throughout the hour, so call in on 01603 617321 to join in.
“I didn’t live far from our village school and could stroll there and back with few problems in any weather. But there were some big challenges in winter as I biked to catch the train at Fransham for seven glorious years at Hamond’s Grammar School in Swaffham,” says Keith.
Mind you, the day he spent in the Fransham railway station toilet had nothing to do with snow, rain, wind or a nasty attack of suffin gorn abowt...
Come on, put Norfolk in the picture with your own Wednesday winners and help Matt and Skip keep the mardling and memories flowing.
