A 50-year-old woman, who says she does not smile, says her friends look noticeably older than her.

Tess Christian claims she stopped smiling in school and carried the practice on in later life to avoid, in her words, looking 鈥渉ideous鈥� in photographs.

But as she grew older, she noticed that she had 鈥渇ewer laughter lines鈥� than other people her age.

Rather than 鈥渁ct out the emotion" of being happy, Ms Christian says she just states her feelings.
