Germany's most decorated Winter Olympian, Claudia Pechstein, has been told she can proceed with a lawsuit for compensation from the International Skating Union, after they handed her a two-year doping ban.

Last week, a Munich state court failed to recognise the Court of Arbitration for Sport's decision.

The five-time Olympic speed-skating champion received the ban in 2009 because of irregular blood results, although she never failed a drug test.
