Former Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes says he is "happy" Beck won the Grammy for Best Album over Beyonce.

Kanye West took to the stage at the awards when Beyonce's album missed out on the prize, arguing the decision was "disrespectful to inspiration".

Coombes said Beck's album had "soul," then asked: "Has that Beyonce record got that much soul? How many writers were on there, how many producers were on there?

"It's this kind of like delusional world that those guys live in, and it's sort of the power-hungry, crazy kind of way of looking at things," he said.
