Ex-PGA president back Couples as US Ryder Cup captain
Ted Bishop, the former president of the Professional Golfers' Association, says he would choose Fred Couples as the next US Ryder Cup captain, rather than Davis Love III who is the favourite for the role.
Bishop said, "Fred Couples would have been my pick. Davis Love would have been a great assistant captain for Couples. You could have surrounded Fred with vice captains that would have been able to pick up some of the things he doesn’t really enjoy."
"If you’re the Americans and you’re wanting to bring a winning formula to the Ryder Cup I think Fred would have been a great choice," he added.
